This Friday has seen a clash, whole Film Industry especially the Distributors and Theater owners had tried to avoid. Two big Movies have been released today and both can’t be much different in genres they represent. Dilwale is a masala pop-corn Rohit Shetty movie while Bajirao Mastani is an epic movie based on lives of its historic characters.
Bajirao Mastani beats Dilwale
But if initial reports are any indication, Dilwale has won the first day battle with 70% occupancy while Bajirao-Mastani has garnered 30% occupancy. The opening day collection for ‘Dilwale’ will be somewhere around Rs 21-22 crore. ‘Bajirao’ might settle for a Rs 10-12 crore opening day figure. But talk about reviews / ratings and Bajirao-Mastani is miles ahead of Dilwale. Those who have watched it are rating it very high somewhere in the range of 4.5-5, while Dilwale is getting poor ratings in the range of 2.5-3. This is on a scale of 5.
Taran Adarsh, the renowned Movie trade Analyst feels word of mouth for the Ranveer-Deepika starrer is very positive which might help the film. “The word of mouth for ‘Bajirao Mastani’ is very strong, it will gain momentum by the evening shows, but the masses are loving ‘Dilwale’. Both the films will continue to do well as we have Christmas weekend followed by New Year. It is an open ground.”
