Jitiya or Jivitputrika Vrat is a three-day-long festival, celebrated from seventh to ninth lunar day of Krishna-Paksha in Ashwin Hindu month. Jivitputrika (also Jiutiya or Jiitiya)  is a festival in which Nirjala (without water) vrata throughout a day and night, is observed by mothers for the wellbeing of their children(Sons & Daughters). A three-day-long festival is celebrated from seventh to ninth lunar day of Krishna-Paksha in Ashvin month. It is celebrated mainly in Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh states of India and Nepal. In 2016, it would be observed on September 23.
