No Fine for Mere viewing of blocked URLs or torrent website- Beware of False Media Reports

For whole day we internet users were cursing our government basing on False Media claims that Mere viewing of blocked URLs or torrent website will attract 3 years jail terms and a hefty fine. But it is now turned out another case of immature reporting for sensationalising and in a way falsely charging Government.

Now it is being debugged by ET, which has correctly explained. All the news reports claiming were emanated from- “several users accessing a blocked a URL or web address with torrents pulled up the message from Tata Communications Limited (TCL): “This URL has been blocked under the instructions of the Competent Government Authority or in compliance with the orders of a Court of competent jurisdiction. Viewing, downloading, exhibiting or duplicating an illicit copy of the contents under this URL is punishable as an offence under the laws of India, including but not limited to under .. Read more at:

Which our so-called Detectives though of a General rules for everyone from Government of India but instead it was message from Tata Communications Limited (TCL).
