At first National Agriculture Market portal is set to connect e-mandis in eight states at a function in New Delhi today.

Most of the states and Union Territories have shown interest in participating in National Agriculture Market. E-trading portal will be launched on 125 birth anniversary of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi
It will integrate 585 regulated wholesale market under 1 electronic platform.
NAM will allow farmers to sell their produce to highest bidders.
NAM will initially aim at integrating 21 mandis in 8 states.
Fruits and vegetables, which often witness price fluctuations, are yet to be included in the NAM platform.
Besides, the country’s two biggest mandis – Azadpur (Delhi) and Vasi (Mumbai) – have not yet agreed to come on board.
However Agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh has assured that before 2018 all the major mandis would be integrated to the electronic platform.
Integrating Mandis to electronic platform in Karnataka has been successful.
And this initiative on national level is expected to boost the income of farmers resulting in the growth of the agriculture sector.
