Actor Paresh Rawal said if Aamir believes it is his “motherland then he will never talk about leaving it“.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said, “The country has given him (Aamir Khan) so much love and respect. I am sure he said it in a hurry or maybe under influence from others.”
Senior Congress leader Shakeel Ahmed said that Mr. Khan’s is the voice of ‘conscience’ and the government was proving its intolerance by attacking the actor.
“I think he has raised a crucial issue and the government should be thankful to him for that,” he said. “But it’s sad that instead of taking his opinion seriously, the government is actually extending its intolerance by attacking him.”
“He was a celebrated actor till now. But now it seems that we handed over milk to a snake. If he does not want to stay here, he can go to Pakistan,” Maharashtra Environment Minister and senior Shiv Sena leader Ramdas Kadam said.
“Leaders of the ruling party and its sister organisations have been issuing insinuating statements. But I want to say that Muslims will not leave the country come what may. We are Indians not just by birth, but by choice,” Mr. Owaisi said.
“Some isolated examples, however, extreme are exceptions to India’s inherent tolerant nature. It would be unfortunate to let isolated examples be taken as a norm that define India. Our Constitution guarantees freedom of expression and Aamir Khan like any citizen is entitled to his personal opinion. And any one who disagrees with him also enjoys the same freedom,” BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli said
“What Aamir Khan, one of the most respected actors, has said in the presence of many senior BJP people is what the whole world is saying, all of India is saying, all right-minded people are saying,” Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said.
“Forget Aamir Khan his remarks are not important in the light of the tremendous sacrifice made by Col. Mahadik for his country,” Mr. Sharad Pawar
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said: “Instead of branding all those who question the government and Modiji [Prime Minister Narendra Modi] as unpatriotic, anti-national or motivated, the government should reach out to people and understand what’s disturbing them.”
