Why is NDTV banned for a Day? Reactions at Twitter
NDTV is ordered by the government to be taken off air for a day after an inter-ministerial panel constituted by the I&B ministry recommended this action over the Channel’s Coverage during Pathankot terror attack in January 2016.
“Such crucial information could have been readily picked by their handlers, which had the potential to cause massive harm not only to the national security, but also to lives of civilians and defence personnel,” the committee said as per the order.

One can not be sure of it but a probe must be initiated as it has happened earlier during her coverage of 2008 Mumbai attacks, during which she reported from Taj Mahal Hotel and Oberoi Trident.
She was blamed for sensationalising the events, putting lives at risk and causing deaths by identifying on live television where the hotel guests might be located.
Writing for the New York Times, Lydia Polgreen wrote that critics viewed Dutt and some other reporters as extremely “theatrical and melodramatic” in their coverage of the 2008 attacks. Let Truth Prevail.
Findings of Committee
1.observed that the channel “appeared to give out the exact location of the remaining terrorists with regard to the sensitive assets in their vicinity” in their telecast in real time.
2.channel had revealed sensitive details like location of ammunition depot, the space where the terrorists were holed up, location of school and residential areas.
1.it was a case of “subjective interpretation” and that most of the information they had put out was already in public domain in print, electronic and social media.
